Caitlin Pletcher, a Partner in the Cherry Hill office and a member of the Firm’s Education Practice Group, focuses her practice in education/school law, labor and employment, and representation of local governments/public entities.

Caitlin is an experienced school board attorney, having started her legal career at this firm after serving as a judicial clerk for the Honorable Angelo J. DiCamillo, J.T.C. t/a, in the Superior Court of New Jersey, Camden Vicinage.

Prior to rejoining the firm, Caitlin was in the Division of Field Services at the New Jersey Department of Education.  Here, Caitlin worked closely with the 21 County Offices of Education and regularly assisted the Executive County Superintendents with matters under their purview, such as the review of administrator contracts, homelessness determinations, and investigations under the Anti-Bullying Bill of Rights.  Caitlin regularly analyzed and processed various requests that required the Commissioner’s approval pursuant to statute or regulation.

Caitlin also provided technical assistance to the state-operated school districts and monitored the implementation of their transition plans to local control.  While Caitlin was serving in this role at the Department of Education, the Newark Public School District, historically, became the first state-operated school district in the State to be returned to full local control. In addition, Caitlin coordinated rulemaking initiatives for several chapters under N.J.A.C. 6A, making policy recommendations and drafting proposed regulations and amendments.

Before joining the Department of Education, Caitlin also worked in an education law firm Burlington County, where she primarily focused on special education litigation, representing school districts throughout the State in emergent applications, mediation and settlement conferences, due process hearings, motion hearings, and at IEP meetings.  Caitlin also provided presentations and in-services on a variety of education law topics to the firm’s clients and at events and conferences.

Caitlin is a member of the New Jersey Bar Association, as well as the Camden County and Burlington County Bar Associations.

In her free time, Caitlin participates in masters swimming and track programs and competes in triathlons.
