Today’s Issue by Kendal Longmore:
Whether Bill S3488 proposes financial incentives for school districts to form or expand regional school districts.
Answer:
Yes. Bill S3488, which the Senate Education Committee has approved and is currently under review by the Senate Budget and Appropriations Committees, creates a grant program as one financial incentive. As proposed, the grant program offers reimbursement to school districts for costs associated with conducting feasibility studies to explore forming or expanding regional school districts. The bill also proposes to amend a section of P.L. 2018, c.67 (commonly known as “S-2”), to provide financial relief to school districts approved under the grant program, which have a positive State aid differential and are currently subject to State aid reductions.
