  • One at One: Court Deadlines for Public Entities During COVID-19

Today’s Issue:
Does the tolling of deadlines by the New Jersey Courts through April 26, 2020 also apply to the deadlines to send Public Entities a Notice of Tort Claim?

Answer:

The period from March 28, 2020 through April 26, 2020 is a Court Holiday. This tolling applies to the Tort Claims Act. Any Tort Claims Notice otherwise required to be served upon a Public Entity during this period is now due Monday, April 27, 2020.
