  • One at One: Does FMLA Expansion Under FFCRA Apply to Shool Districts?

Today’s Issue:

Does the Family Medical Leave Act (“FMLA”) expansion and the Emergency Paid Sick Leave Act passed under the Family First Coronavirus Response Act (“FFCRA”) apply to public school districts?

Answer:

Yes, public school districts are a public agency and are subject to the regulations under the FMLA. Because of this, under the FFCRA, public school districts are obligated to follow the rules and regulations established under the FMLA expansion and Emergency Paid Sick Leave Act.
