  • One at One: School Boards & Independent Contractors

Today’s Issue:

Can the Board continue or cease paying independent service providers for services not provided?

Answer:

To receive State aid, Boards must continue to pay contracted service providers for any contract in effect on the date of the closure as if the services had been provided and the school remained open. Providers must use the payments to meet payroll and fixed cost obligations. Boards must endeavor to renegotiate the contracts, to include reasonable additional services or reduce the contracts by costs no longer being incurred.
