Lou Cappelli, Jr., to Appear on NBC Philadelphia Discussing Project SAVE

Lou Cappelli, Jr., Director of the Camden County Board of Chosen Freeholders and Managing Partner in the Cherry Hill office at Florio Perrucci Steinhardt Cappelli Tipton & Taylor, will be interviewed by Rosemary Connors on NBC Philadelphia Channel 10. Cappelli will discuss Project (Substance Abuse Visionary Effort) SAVE which sponsored by the Camden County Board of Chosen Freeholders. The segment will air on Sunday, January 12, 2020 after Meet the Press.

Project SAVE, a unique diversion program provided at the municipal level, is designed to assist those suffering from the disease of addiction to navigate obstacles, barriers, and treatments, so they can get access to care they need. The objective is to address the opioid epidemic in our communities, and to reduce addiction-related recidivism in our jails, by shifting the focus of police efforts and practices beyond the initial arrest. Non-violent offenders who enter the municipal court system are given the opportunity to connect with a licensed social services professional who can refer and connect them to appropriate treatment resources regardless of their ability to pay, and in lieu of sentencing. Project SAVE advocates spend many additional hours conducting follow-up calls, meetings, and other pursuing measures to ensure that each defendant is successfully navigating their treatment.

Cappelli has extensive experience in education, governmental and regulatory affairs, labor, lobbying, real estate, family and personal injury law. Cappelli currently serves as Director of the Camden County Board of Chosen Freeholders. He has served as a Freeholder since 2002 and as a Director since 2006. He previously served as a member of the Board of Commissioners in the Borough of Collingswood and as a member of the Collingswood Board of Education. Cappelli also serves as a member of the Board of the Delaware Valley Regional Planning Commission. He is admitted to practice in New Jersey and Pennsylvania. Cappelli received his B.S. from Albright College and earned his J.D. from Rutgers School of Law – Camden.
