Christine A. Soto, a Partner with the Rochelle Park office of Florio Perrucci Steinhardt Cappelli Tipton & Taylor and Co-Chair of the firm’s Education Law Group, has been appointed to the Advisory Board of NJ LEEP on November 18, 2019.

NJ LEEP (Law and Education Empowerment Project) is a college access and success program serving students and families in the greater Newark, New Jersey area. NJ LEEP’s College Bound Program empowers middle and high school students with both the academic and social-emotional skills necessary to succeed in college and beyond. 100% of program graduates have gone to college.

Soto says, “I am truly honored to join NJ LEEP’s Advisory Board. This is an organization that I have long admired and as an education law attorney, I believe that I can really make an impact, especially in the area of special education. Also, being a first-generation college student myself, I can relate to some of the struggles the kids face and can be an example that they can reach success. I want to share what I have learned along the way to empower these kids.”

Adds Matt Feinstein, Executive Director Matt Feinstein of NJ LEEP, “NJ LEEP is thrilled to have Christine join our Advisory Board. She brings a rare combination of deep substantive knowledge, understanding of the landscape in New Jersey and beyond and personal experience reflective of the community we serve. Christine will be able to immediately add value to NJ LEEP, our students and our staff.”

Soto, a resident of Leonia, concentrates her practice representing New Jersey school boards on education law matters with an emphasis on special education, state and federal litigation, and legal counseling on an array of school law issues. Prior to joining the firm, Soto was the Executive Legal Affairs Officer for the New Jersey Department of Education. Before the NJDOE, Soto spent more than a decade as a special education parent attorney. She is admitted to practice in New Jersey and New York. She is a member of the New Jersey State Bar Association – School Law Committee, the National School Boards Association Council of School Attorneys and the Hispanic Bar Association of New Jersey. She earned her B.A. degree in English Literature from the University of Pennsylvania and received her J.D. from New York University School of Law.
