Eric Lee Attends the Prestigious Campbell Trophy® Summit
Posted August 23, 2022
As a past nominee for the National Football Foundation’s William V. Campbell Trophy®, Eric Lee, an attorney with Florio Perrucci Steinhardt Cappelli Tipton & Taylor, recently attended the Campbell Trophy® Summit at Stanford University in Palo Alto, California.
Lee was nominated for the Campbell Trophy in 2009 as a student-athlete at the University of Maine. All past semifinalists, finalists, and winners of the Campbell Trophy are invited to attend the Summit. The event provides a powerful opportunity to interact and learn from many of the nation’s top entrepreneurs and Silicon Valley CEOs about the lessons that have guided them to the highest levels of success. Organized as a tribute to the late Bill Campbell, the award’s namesake, the event serves as a vehicle for the many leaders impacted by Campbell to pass on his leadership and personal growth insights to the next generation. The Summit is sponsored by Intuit, the global technology platform that makes TurboTax, QuickBooks, Mint, Credit Karma, and Mailchimp.
Jordan Stevens, Head Football Coach of the University of Maine says, “On behalf of the Maine Football Family, we would like to congratulate Eric Lee, class of 2010, on his nomination to the 2022 Campbell Trophy Summit. Eric was an outstanding student-athlete here at the University of Maine and was recognized as a Campbell Trophy Semifinalist in 2009. The Campbell Trophy is the premier student-athlete award. The Campbell Trophy recognizes college football student-athletes who demonstrate academic success, superior athletic performances, and leadership. We are proud of Eric and all he accomplished here at the University of Maine and all he continues to achieve in his law career.”
Lee’s former coach at Maine and current head football coach of Colby College, Jack Cosgrove, says, “Eric Lee played for us at UMaine and was an outstanding student, athlete, and young man. He came to us after attending Dean College and was everything we hoped for in a recruit. He excelled on the field, and in the classroom, and on top of that, brought with him every day a great attitude, tremendous effort, and was as disciplined a young man as we had in the program. It is not surprising at all to see the success he has achieved in his life’s work!”
Lee adds, “I attended the 4th Annual National Football Foundation Campbell Trophy Summit at Stanford University earlier this month. This leadership conference was a life-changing experience. As a former junior college/Division I student-athlete, hard work pays off! The panelists were amazing, and I met incredible leaders throughout the country. I want to thank the University of Maine faculty and staff for challenging me both on and off the field, and for my nomination in 2009. Tim Tebow won that year, so I consider myself in good company. Go Black Bears! I also thank Florio Perrucci for supporting my participation at the Summit and every day in my law practice.”
Brian Tipton, Managing Partner of Florio Perrucci Steinhardt Cappelli Tipton & Taylor says, “Eric is an extraordinary young man. Obviously, the skills he learned in football have translated to his success as a lawyer – dedication, teamwork, and perseverance. We are happy that Eric is part of the Florio Perrucci team.”
About the William V. Campbell Trophy®
The trophy is named in honor of the late Bill Campbell, an All-Ivy League player and the captain of Columbia’s 1961 Ivy League championship team, who found his true calling after an unlikely career change at age 39 from Columbia football coach to an advertising executive. His ability to recruit, develop and manage talented executives – all lessons learned on the gridiron – proved to be a critical component of his ability to inspire his business teams to the highest levels of success.
The William V. Campbell Trophy® has become the most prestigious and desirable “academic” award in college football. The trophy recognizes an individual as the absolute best in the country for his academic success, football performance, and exemplary leadership.
