Former New Jersey Governor James J. Florio, a Founding Partner of Florio Perrucci Steinhardt Cappelli Tipton & Taylor, moderated a panel discussion entitled Ørsted’s Ocean Wind Project Supply Chain: Its impact On New Jersey. Florio was joined by an impressive group of leaders in the wind energy industry including William Sproule, Executive Secretary Treasurer of Eastern Atlantic States Regional Council of Carpenters; Derek Stilwell, Commercial Leader with GE Renewable Energy Offshore Wind; Roly Acosta, President of Caldwell Marine; and Lee Laurendeau, CEO of EEW- American Offshore Structures.

The panel was part of NJ Alliance for Action’s 2nd Annual “Offshore Wind Energy – New Jersey Is Leading The Way” Conference. The Conference was held on Monday, January 27, 2020 from 8:00 – 11:00 am at the Northeast Carpenters Apprentice Training Center in Edison, New Jersey. Key speakers at the conference were First Lady Tammy Murphy, State of NJ; Thomas Brostrøm, CEO of Ørsted; and Lathrop Craig, VP of Operations, PSEG.

The NJ Alliance for Action ‘s mission is to improve New Jersey’s economy through the promotion of capital construction and infrastructure investment. In addition to constant advocacy, every year the Alliance hosts more than two dozen meetings on a variety of different subjects featuring speakers and presentations on major initiatives and projects. Speakers have included Governors, federal and state elected representatives, cabinet officers, authority representatives, labor leaders, and corporate officials.

Governor Florio, based in the Cherry Hill office of Florio Perrucci Steinhardt Cappelli Tipton & Taylor, is Chairman of the firm’s energy, environmental law, government and regulatory affairs and the healthcare law groups. Serving as the 49th Governor of the State of New Jersey from 1990 through 1994 and in the United States House of Representatives from 1974 – 1990, Gov. Florio has enjoyed a long and distinguished career. He is a Senior Fellow for Public Policy and Administration at the Edward J. Bloustein Graduate School of Public Policy at Rutgers University. He serves on the Board of Directors of the NJ Health Care Quality Institute, is Co-Chairman of the Regional Plan Association’s New Jersey Committee, and a member of the Board of Trustees Fund for New Jersey. He holds numerous honorary degrees and was the recipient of the Distinguished Lifetime Achievement Award at the Hughes Center Honors in 2019 and the “Profile in Courage Award” by the John F. Kennedy Library Foundation in 1993. In 2008, he was designated as a Lifetime Honoree Member of the New Jersey Short Line Railroad Association. Gov. Florio graduated from Trenton State College, received the Woodrow Wilson Fellowship from Columbia University, and earned his law degree from Rutgers School of Law – Camden.
