Lester Taylor and Caitlin Pletcher to Discuss Tenure in Schools

On April 28, from 11:30 am until 1:00 pm, Florio Perrucci Steinhardt Cappelli Tipton and Taylor LLC Partners, Lester Taylor and Caitlin Pletcher, will speak about tenure issues at the New Jersey Personnel Administrators (PAA) quarterly meeting. Their virtual presentation, “You were out for what? Who was moved where? Tenure calculations in the aftermath of COVID-19”, will provide an overview of how promotions, temporary assignments, and leaves of absence may affect tenure accrual. The New Jersey Personnel Administrators Association is an organization whose goal is to promote efficient and effective personnel administration and employee relations in public school districts in New Jersey. PAA provides a forum where school personnel administrators can receive and exchange information on legal and practical developments in the field.
Lester Taylor is a Partner at Florio Perrucci Steinhardt Cappelli Tipton & Taylor. He represents counties, municipalities, and boards of education throughout New Jersey in matters related to general counsel services, litigation, labor, employment, and redevelopment. Lester served as Mayor of the City of East Orange, NJ, from 2014-2017. He has received numerous awards and recognition from various civic organizations and often volunteers to speak with students on the importance of education and developing leadership skills. Currently, Lester serves on the Board of Trustees of the Montclair State University Foundation, the Board of Three Doctors Foundation, the Board of the United Way of Greater Newark, the Board of Sustainable Jersey, and the Board of Jersey Water Works. Lester graduated from Montclair State University and Howard University School of Law.
Caitlin Pletcher, an experienced school board attorney, started her legal career at Florio Perrucci Steinhardt Cappelli Tipton and Taylor firm and rejoined the firm after serving in the Division of Field Services at the New Jersey Department of Education, where she worked closely with the Executive County Superintendents and 21 County Offices of Education. Pletcher represents boards of education throughout New Jersey in litigation and daily counseling related to special education, student discipline, personnel/employment issues, negotiations, OPRA, and other general counsel matters. She is a member of the New Jersey State Bar Association, as well as the Camden County and Burlington County Bar Associations. Pletcher graduated from Boston College in 2005 and Rutgers University Law School—Camden in 2008.
