Lester Taylor to Speak at Directors of Athletics Association of New Jersey Conference

Lester E. Taylor, Partner with Florio Perrucci Steinhardt Cappelli Tipton & Taylor and Co-Chair of the Firm’s Education Law Group, will speak at the Directors of Athletics Association of New Jersey Conference. The Conference, entitled High School Athletics Today – So Much More than Just A Game, will take place March 16-20, 2020 at the Golden Nugget Hotel and Casino in Atlantic City. On Wednesday, March 18, 2020 at 1:00, Taylor will present School Law Updates for Athletics. This session is being moderated by Dan Uszaki, Athletic Director of Northern Burlington High School.

The Directors of Athletics Association of New Jersey is the professional organization for New Jersey high school athletic administrators. The DAANJ works closely with the New Jersey State Interscholastic Athletic Association to promote interscholastic athletic programs in the state. Currently there are over 300 active high athletic directors and over 100 retired athletic directors who are registered as members of the DAANJ.

Taylor, a resident of East Orange, represents boards of education throughout New Jersey in matters related to general counsel services, special education, litigation, labor, employment, and workers’ compensation. Taylor served as Mayor of the City of East Orange, New Jersey from 2014-2017. Taylor has received numerous awards and recognition from various civic organizations and often volunteers his time speaking with students on the importance of education and developing leadership skills. Currently, Taylor serves on the Board of Three Doctors Foundation, the Board of the United Way of Essex and West Hudson Counties, the Board of Sustainable Jersey, and the Board of Jersey Water Works. He served as a Trustee for the Northern Region of the New Jersey Association of School Attorneys. Taylor frequently attends and conducts legal seminars to stay abreast of changes in the law. He graduated from Montclair State University and earned his JD from Howard University School of Law.
