Nicholas Sullivan

Nick Sullivan, an Associate with the firm, concentrates his practice in public and private entity governance and compliance, estate planning, and civil litigation, including employment, construction, estates, and personal injury. In addition, Nick has experience in transactional matters including contract drafting and estate planning.

On behalf of public entities, Nick serves as outside general counsel, labor counsel, and special counsel for the State of New Jersey, counties, municipalities, and land development boards throughout Southern New Jersey. Nick represents public entities in all facets of the legal process including drafting and negotiating contracts, labor agreements, ordinances, and resolutions, attending governing body meetings, maintaining in-depth knowledge of public entity law including procurement, the Open Public Records Act, real property, labor issues, and ensuring legal compliance with applicable statutes and regulations. Nick is a member of the New Jersey Institute of Local Government Attorneys and an Associate Editor of the Institute’s official publication, Local Government Law Review.

In the area of corporate law and governance, Nick has assisted in defending corporations and nonprofits in civil investigations and litigations, drafting and negotiating corporate documents including purchase and sale agreements, asset purchase agreements, stock sales agreements, and merger and acquisition agreements. Additionally, Nick has assisted corporate clients through the New Jersey administrative process including liquor license applications, real property transfers, incorporation, governmental investigations, and State and federal procurement.

Nick also regularly appears in New Jersey Superior Court, the District Court of New Jersey, and the Third Circuit Court of Appeals on a broad array of civil litigation matters including employment discrimination, whistleblower actions, contractual disputes, personal injury, and construction claims.

Before joining the firm, Nick was employed as a Deputy Attorney General with the New Jersey Office of the Attorney General. During his time as a Deputy Attorney General, Nick defended the State of New Jersey, its agencies, and employees in complex litigations involving employment and civil rights disputes. In this role, Nick regularly appeared before the New Jersey Superior Court, New Jersey Appellate Division, and the District Court of New Jersey.

Nick began his legal career as a judicial law clerk for the Honorable Jeanne T. Covert in the Superior Court of New Jersey, Burlington Vicinage. Nick completed the two-year accelerated Juris Doctorate program at the Thomas R. Kline School of Law at Drexel University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
