  • Governor Florio Discusses Wind Energy

Governor James J. Florio, founding partner of Florio Perrucci Steinhardt Cappelli Tipton & Taylor LLC, is regarded as a thoughtful and knowledgeable leader in the field of offshore energy. His years of experience dealing with environmental and energy issues fuel this continued passion.

Brian Tipton, the Managing Partner of Florio Perrucci, says, “Governor Florio’s work on such substantive issues is a source of pride from all of us at the law firm.”

Gov. Florio has been recently active in his promotion of offshore energy in New Jersey.

First, Governor Florio wrote an op-ed piece, It’s an idea whose time has come, that appeared in the New Jersey press. He explains how Americans are poised to gain significant economic and environmental benefits from the offshore wind movement. Because offshore wind is a mature market in Europe, our American counterparts have learned from the Europeans’ experience, technologies, and cost-saving breakthroughs. These factors, along with projects off of the New Jersey coast and elsewhere, position the US to be the global leader in wind energy. See below for the full article.

Second, he was a panelist on the NJ Spotlight News virtual roundtable – Offshore Wind in NJ: Meeting the state’s clean energy and economic goals. Governor Florio was joined by other esteemed leaders in this field including David Hardy, Chief Executive Officer, Ørsted Offshore North America; Dr. Josh Kohut, Professor, Center for Ocean Observing Leadership, Rutgers University; Kris Ohleth, Executive Director, Special Initiative on Offshore Wind; and Doug O’Malley, State Director, Environment New Jersey. The program was moderated by Tom Johnson, Energy/Environment Writer for NJ Spotlight News.
