Sarah Powell & Seth Tipton to Present at Latest Developments in Cannabis and Psychedelics Law

On April 30th from 9:00 a.m. – 4:05 p.m., Florio Perrucci partners and co-authors of “New Jersey Cannabis Regulation”, Sarah Powell and Seth Tipton, will participate in New Jersey Institute for Continuing Legal Education’s Latest Developments in Cannabis and Psychedelics Law. This program, being presented in cooperation with the New Jerey State Bar Association Cannabis Law Special Committee, will take place at the New Jersey Law Center in New Brunswick, as well as online.

This CLE program will provide an overview of where the cannabis industry laws and where this emerging industry stands in New Jersey and how we got here. It will also include segments on ethics, dispensary operations and finance planning, monetizing client’s innovations on a national scale, a hemp update, a litigation update and finally, the newest and hottest topic in regulated substances law – psychedelics.

Seth Tipton is Chair of the firm’s Cannabis Law Practice Group and is a leader in the field of cannabis law.  He has represented applicants for medical cannabis permits in New Jersey and Pennsylvania, guiding them on private capital raises, application requirements, and real estate acquisitions and approvals. Tipton counsels clients on all aspects of formation and compliance for cannabis companies, from start-ups to multi-state operators. For example, he was counsel for Keystone Releaf LLC in a successful appeal of denial of a medical marijuana application, and he was counsel for successful applicants for medical cannabis dispensaries and cultivators in the 2019 New Jersey Department of Health request for applications. He is the immediate past co-chair the New Jersey State Bar Association Cannabis Law Special Committee, and an instructor for NJ Canna Certified where he teaches cannabis law basics to students at many of New Jersey’s community colleges. In 2022, Tipton was ranked 5th on Insider New Jersey’s The Insider 100: Cannabis Power List which is a tribute to politically influential voices in New Jersey’s cannabis movement.

Sarah Powell, a Partner with the firm and a member of the firm’s Cannabis Law Practice Group, has extensive experience advising clients regarding the licensing process and other regulatory issues at both the state and local levels.  Powell’s knowledge of and experience with the cannabis space and its quickly evolving statutes and regulations is expansive.
