Lou Cappelli, Brian Budic and Nicholas Sullivan, of the Cherry Hill Office of Florio Perrucci Steinhardt Cappelli Tipton & Taylor LLC, successfully represented the Pennsauken Junior Indians football team which was wrongfully denied the ability to participate in playoffs despite being undefeated. On Thursday, November 21, Superior Court Judge Anthony Pugliese issued an injunction against the league’s ban, ruling that the league must put the Junior Indians in the championship game or face a hefty sanction after the league has already been found to be in contempt of a Court Order. The league attempted to ban the Junior Indians from the playoffs due to a dispute over a team member’s eligibility.

“There’s a $5,000 sanction right now. That will be suspended, pending Pennsauken being able to partake in the playoffs. If the league once again violates a court order, it will be elevated to $15,000,” said Budic. Cappelli adds, “The league is penalizing the Pennsauken Juniors for arbitrary reasons, wholly unsupported by the evidence. We are happy with this result and it was our honor to help these deserving kids on a pro bono basis. It is unfortunate that this matter had to be resolved in court.”
